In Russia, heart, liver, lung, organocomplex, and kidney transplants can be performed under an MHI policy. This was announced on April 15 by Sergey Gauthier, chief freelance transplantologist at the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Director of the Shumakov National Research Medical Center for Transplantation and Artificial Organs.

"Russia is part of the pool of those few countries where organ transplants to citizens of the country, both adults and children, are carried out at the expense of the state, that is, within the framework of the program of state guarantees of medical care to the population," he explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It is noted that in 2025, almost 4 thousand organ transplants were performed in the country.
