There are many symptoms that indicate a concussion. On April 14, he named the most private of them to "Gazeta.Ru" Alexander Umnov, Senior lecturer at the Department of Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education.

"The most common symptoms of concussion are dizziness, headaches, and vomiting. There may be short—term (or long-term) memory loss," the expert noted.

He added that signs such as pressing pains in the head, confusion, ringing in the ears, and split eyes can often be observed after a blow.

Umnov stressed that it is not always possible to determine the cause of a particular symptom. In his opinion, they may be related to age characteristics.

The specialist also told us what first aid should be for concussion.

"In case of concussion, it is necessary to provide the victim with rest, put him on his side so that he does not choke with vomit, you can apply cold. Depending on the severity of the condition, call an ambulance or come to an appointment with a traumatologist or neurologist," the expert concluded.

Last November, Medical Xpress magazine reported on the effects of concussion on athletes' reaction speed. According to the researchers, concussions in athletes can slow down reactions, increase the risk of repeated injuries and affect men and women differently.
