The defense of Albert Trishkin, a former judge of the Second Western District Military Court, who shot a taxi driver in 2024, is asking for the verdict to be overturned and the case to be retried. This is reported by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The party also disagrees with the qualification of the charge and requests that the decision to recover the procedural costs be reversed. Trishkin, in his appeal, notes that the victim constantly changed his testimony about the incident.

The injured party requested the court to increase the punishment to three years of probation, and also demanded to recover 5 million rubles from Trishkin.

On December 26 last year, the Vidnovsky City Court found the ex-judge guilty of intentionally causing moderate harm to health with the use of weapons and sentenced him to two years of probation. The ex-judge was also ordered to pay compensation to the victim for moral damage in the amount of 350,000 rubles.

According to investigators, in August 2024, Albert Trishkin quarreled with a taxi driver who blocked his path and shot the driver in the leg with a Makarov traumatic pistol. According to Trishkin, he found the gun "behind the garages" two days before the incident and was going to hand it over to the police department, but did not have time.
