The United States insists on Iran's complete curtailment of its nuclear program. This was stated on April 14 by the American Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mike Waltz on the Fox News channel.

"Secondly, you cannot have a nuclear program," the American diplomat said, explaining that this is both about uranium enrichment and the availability of highly enriched uranium.

Waltz also said that Washington is ready to maintain the naval blockade of Iran until Tehran restores full-fledged navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and does not abandon its unilateral decisions.

On the same day, The New York Times reported that the Iranian authorities, during negotiations with U.S. representatives in Islamabad, proposed suspending uranium enrichment for up to five years.
