The consolidation of the country's scientific community and the support of promising research projects were discussed on April 14 at a videoconference of the Russian Association for the Advancement of Science (RASN).

RASN is an all—Russian public organization established in 2011 on the initiative of academician Evgeny Velikhov, a scientist and honorary president of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center. The Association unites the efforts of representatives of fundamental and applied science and promotes the introduction of scientific developments in the real sector of the economy.

During the meeting, new priorities of the RAS were outlined: strengthening the territorial connectivity of the country, consolidating the scientific and educational community, and developing scientific diplomacy. Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, was re-elected Chairman of the RASN Presidium.

"Today, science knows no boundaries. RASN regional and branch offices will help scientists from Novosibirsk, Moscow and Protvino, engineers from Tomsk and Kaluga regions, cultural figures from St. Petersburg and Vladivostok to share their experiences and implement new projects. We are also strengthening the organization's international activities," the scientist noted.

RASN currently has branches in 55 regions of the country. The slogan of the organization is: "We support science, anticipating the future." The association pays special attention to youth and regions.

Among the activities of the association is the holding of the flagship panel discussion "Building Bridges" at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in November 2025.: how scientific diplomacy and culture shape our future." One of the ideas discussed was the creation of an international center for nature-like research under the auspices of UNESCO.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on February 5 that the future, development and prosperity of the country largely depend on the discoveries of young scientists. He stressed that the scientists had chosen an interesting, worthy and exciting task — serving progress, and wished them success in this field.
