The chairman of the Moscow City Scientific Society of Therapists, Professor Pavel Vorobyov, told where you can get the "intestinal flu".

In conversation with aif.ru On Tuesday, April 14, a specialist noted that norovirus is a common infection, especially in spring, and often causes outbreaks. According to him, infection occurs through contact with a patient, as well as through water and food, while both contact and airborne transmission routes are possible. He explained that diarrhea scares many, but it is typical for such infections: in addition to fever, vomiting and stomach upset can occur — the so-called "intestinal flu" in everyday life, although it does not apply to the flu.

The doctor noted that the disease is unpleasant, but, as a rule, not dangerous. It is important to drink more, including salted water, as the body loses fluid during vomiting and diarrhea. The disease usually resolves in 1-3 days, and hospitalization is rarely required — most often it is enough to stay at home.

For prevention, the specialist recommended following basic hygiene rules: wash hands, boil water and avoid contact with the sick. However, he stressed that a person can be infected even before the symptoms appear, and there is no complete protection against infection.

Virologist Anatoly Altstein noted on April 12 that the main way of transmission of norovirus is violation of sanitary standards in production facilities. According to him, infection is also possible in domestic conditions, but such cases are usually isolated. The mortality rate from this infection is extremely low, according to 360.ru .

The Office of the Investigative Committee for the Vladimir region reported on April 10 that norovirus of the second type was detected in tap water samples in Murom, where an outbreak of acute intestinal infection was registered, writes NSN. At the same time, it was reported that more than 100 people in Murom went to the doctors with signs of intestinal infection, RT clarifies.

Infectious disease specialist Andrey Pozdnyakov said on April 9 that norovirus is considered one of the most contagious in the world and is spreading rapidly in kindergartens, schools, hospitals and on cruise ships. A dangerous feature is that the patient remains contagious for at least two more weeks after the symptoms disappear, the website writes. kp.ru .
