Warsaw is not going to put pressure on Peter Magyar, the leader of the Tisa party that won the parliamentary elections in Hungary, in order to abandon Budapest's Russian oil and gas infrastructure, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on April 14.

"There are certain possibilities to supply Hungary bypassing this Russian route, both through Slovakia and from our ports and from our refinery through Croatia, and there have indeed been such proposals, but let's not be under any illusions. Hungarian nuclear energy is post—Soviet and is based on cooperation with Russia," Tusk said in an interview with reporters, the broadcast was posted on Facebook (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) by Polsat TV channel.

At the same time, according to the Polish politician, he is not going to "impose" anything on the Magyar.

"From the very beginning, a long time ago, we agreed that, given the very difficult political situation in Hungary, in which the opposition was located, I told Peter Magyar that I was here to help him," the Polish prime minister said.

On April 13, Polish President Karol Nawrocki congratulated the Tisa party on its landslide victory in the parliamentary elections and expressed hope for the continuation of the "millennial Polish-Hungarian friendship." He added that he believes in the Magyar's ability to change Hungary's social and economic situation for the better. On April 12, Magyar called on all the current leadership of the country to resign.
