The deputy named the official dates of the weekend for the May holidays.
In 2026, the May holidays in Russia will be held in the format of two short rest periods, each of which will be three days, with a full working week remaining between them. In total, there are 12 days off and holidays in May, with 19 working days. This was announced by State Duma deputy Tatyana Butskaya in an interview with Izvestia on April 14.
According to the production calendar, the first May weekend will fall on May 1-3, after which Russians will expect a standard working week. On the eve of Victory Day, on May 8, the working day will be shortened, and the second block of festive rest will last from May 9 to May 11.
Commenting on the organization of recreation, the deputy noted that Russians traditionally spend the May holidays outside the city or in dachas, but short tourist trips lasting from three to five days are becoming more and more in demand. She stressed that recreation opportunities are expanding for families with children today, including special offers for large families and discounts on toll roads.
Alexander Yuzhalin, head of the legal practice at SuperJob, indicated on April 14 that the May holidays in 2026 would be the shortest in the last eight years. According to him, the decrease in the number of days off is due to the fact that no weekends from the New Year holidays were postponed to May.
