In Russia, more and more technical staff are needed, while the demand for skilled workers is several times higher than the supply. This was announced on April 14 by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.

"More and more employees are needed, mainly in the technical field — these are electromechanics, foundry workers, welders. Demand for operators of machinery installations and other skilled industrial workers already exceeds supply several times," he said at the strategic session "Providing the economy with human resources."

Mishustin stressed that the structure of employee training in the regions should be built taking into account these data. According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the need to adjust vocational education to respond promptly to modern challenges and changes in science and technology.

"This, in turn, requires a review of the program of additional education teaching methods and retraining of teachers at all levels," the Russian Prime Minister added.

He also noted that a detailed long-term forecast is an important tool that allows balancing the labor market and coordinating student education at colleges, technical schools and universities.

From a study by Avito Jobs experts on April 12, it became known that in the first quarter of 2026, the number of vacancies in the housing and communal services sector in the Russian Federation increased by 47% compared to last year, and average salaries in the industry increased by 11%. It was clarified that the growth was due to the active involvement of workers to maintain urban infrastructure and improve the condition of the housing stock.
