The director of FC Union called sexist attacks against the new coach a disgrace.
On April 14, Horst Heldt, director of the Berlin football club Union, called sexist statements about the new coach Marie-Louise Eta shameful.
"I know about the sexist comments. <...> We are talking about a truly competent leader. And know this: everyone at Union, whether fans in the stands or club members, fully supports this decision and will do everything possible to ensure that such discussions do not arise again. It's just a shame," the club quoted him as saying on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The day before, Union called it sexist to suggest that male players would not take the new coach seriously, and recalled that this one had previously been an assistant coach.
Marie-Louise Eta was appointed head coach of German FC Union on April 12. The agreement with the specialist is calculated until the end of the current season. She became the first woman to hold the post of head coach of the men's team in the top division of the German championship.
