A patient was rescued in Yakutia after a five-hour clinical death

In Yakutia, a patient who had been in a state of clinical death for almost five hours was rescued in the city of Mirny. The help was provided by doctors of the Mirninsk central district hospital.

According to IA YakutiaMedia with reference to the chief physician of the hospital Vera Tarasova, at the end of March, after a feast, the man did not reach home, sat on a bench and fell asleep in the -20 degree cold. The ambulance crew, which was called by passers-by, recorded the patient's clinical death. He had no pulse, no blood pressure, no electrical activity of the heart.

The emergency doctors contacted Dmitry Bosikov, an anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist, who had previously introduced the "defrosting" technique in case of hypothermia in Yakutia. He took care of the victim.

According to Tarasova, the defrosting technique is based on gradual thawing so as not to damage the smallest vessels, as damage to the microvascular bed leads to heart attacks, kidney failure and death.

For four hours, the patient's temperature was raised from 24 degrees to 34 degrees, and then extended cardiopulmonary resuscitation was started. After 25 minutes, the monitor showed signs of electrical activity of the heart.

The very next day, the patient came out of an artificial coma in consciousness. He was not seriously injured, and five days later he was discharged home.

Previously, scientists have proposed a way to repair damaged tooth enamel by controlling the growth of its artificial counterpart using a weak electric field. This approach makes it possible to form a protective layer on the tooth surface in just a few hours, close to natural enamel, not only in composition, but also in the internal structure of the crystals. In the future, the technology may become the basis for more durable and gentle treatment methods, allowing for the abandonment of traditional fillings and the use of a drill.
