In the Turkish city of Siverek, Sanliurfa province, on April 14, a former student opened fire in the building of the Ahmet Koyuncu Anatolian Vocational Lyceum, injuring 18 people, after which the attacker committed suicide. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

Details of the attack

Eyewitnesses said that the young man first started shooting in the courtyard of the lyceum, and then continued shooting indiscriminately inside the building. Some students were injured jumping out of windows to escape the fire.

Police crews, medical services and special forces units were deployed to the scene. The security forces managed to evacuate most of the children, but the attacker barricaded himself inside and, according to initial reports, could hold hostages. The lyceum area has been completely cordoned off.

Neutralizing the shooter

Turkish special forces launched an operation to neutralize the shooter, and the police tried to convince him to surrender. According to the governor of Sanliurfa province, Hassan Shildak, no one was killed in the incident, 18 people were injured, including 12 students. Among the injured there are those who jumped out of the windows.

At the same time, when the police surrounded the attacker in the lyceum building, he committed suicide. The governor said that a comprehensive investigation of the incident would be conducted. The victims received the necessary medical care.
