A militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was sent to Moscow to commit the murder of a high-ranking law enforcement officer. This was announced on April 14 at the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia.

"It has been established that the citizen of Ukraine is a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, took part in combat operations against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of the DPR, Zaporizhia and Sumy regions. In March 2025, he was recruited by the SBU and sent to Moscow to conduct reconnaissance and commit the murder of a serviceman," the ministry said in a statement.

According to the detainee, he was transferred across the border with forged documents, after which, on the instructions of his supervisor, he purchased an electric scooter and a charging station, into which he planted explosives. In order to attempt the life of a high-ranking law enforcement officer, he parked a scooter packed with explosives at a shopping mall that the victim of the assassination was supposed to visit.

Earlier in the day, the FSB Central Control Center published footage of the arrest of those preparing an assassination attempt on a high-ranking law enforcement official in Moscow. One of the detainees confessed that he was a native of the Lviv region and had served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On April 14, the FSB announced the detention of three people by the agency's staff on suspicion of preparing an assassination attempt on a high-ranking law enforcement official in Moscow. The Moldovan citizen, according to the FSB, was engaged in reconnaissance of facilities and provided a broadcast from the site of the alleged terrorist attack. At the same time, the Russian handed over video footage of the area to the curators to determine the parking location of the electric scooter.
