In the first quarter of this year, the volume of trade transactions between China and the United States decreased by 16.6% compared to the same period last year, dropping to $128.68 billion. This is evidenced by the data of the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China.

According to TASS, exports of Chinese goods to the United States for the reporting period amounted to $96.69 billion (a decrease of 16.3%), while imports of American products to China amounted to $31.99 billion (minus 17.6%). Against this background, China's trade surplus also showed a decrease of 15.5%, reaching $64.69 billion.

China buys goods from the United States such as soybeans, cotton, corn, microchips, SUVs, coking coal, copper and copper ore. In turn, the United States imports smartphones, computers, lithium-ion batteries, children's toys, plastic products, surveillance cameras, household appliances, clothing, shoes, as well as various low-value goods with simplified customs clearance from China.

Last year, China and the United States reduced trade turnover by 15.6%, to $425.81 billion. It is also reported that the trade turnover between Russia and China in the same time period decreased by 9.4% year-on-year, to $163.62 billion.
