Correspondent Nasser Ashkeri is the only Russian journalist who showed the situation in the Strait of Hormuz after the United States announced the beginning of the naval blockade of Iran. The corresponding footage was published by Izvestia on April 14.

According to the journalist, two empty supertankers of the US Navy tried to enter the strait on April 12, but were forced to turn around amid unsuccessful negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

"It was in this strait that, during Iran's negotiations in Pakistan, two American warships wanted to enter the Strait of Hormuz, and they were sent by the IRGC forces back outside the strait," Ashkeri said.

Ships and oil tankers are moving with the coordination of Iran between the islands of Qeshm and Larak — this is the only safe route to enter and exit the Persian Gulf.

A local resident in an interview with Izvestia stated that he had not seen any foreign or American ships in the strait.

"The security of the Persian Gulf is good, the coast guard and the IRGC naval forces have provided good security here and are fully in control of the situation. The Strait of Hormuz is completely safe," he said.

The source stressed that the Strait of Hormuz is controlled by Iran's "smart control." He also denied the existence of any international coalition capable of challenging Tehran.

A resident of Qeshm Island said that during the recent rocket attack, the pier and the city were attacked, however, despite this, fishermen continue to work, and families come to the shore every night. According to him, security remains.

The day before, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States began due to the failure of negotiations between Washington and Tehran. It is carried out against ships of all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports in the Arabian and Oman Gulfs.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States would negatively affect international energy markets. According to him, Moscow is ready to help resolve the conflict.
