Kallas reported on the possible role of Europe in ensuring maritime security
Europe is considering the possibility of participating in ensuring the safety of navigation in a strategically important region. This was announced on April 13 by the head of EU diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, in an interview with the BBC.
According to Kallas, the European Union does not yet have a clear understanding of the US actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
"It is not clear exactly what actions the United States is taking," she said.
The head of European diplomacy stressed that any restrictions on the use of international sea routes are unacceptable.
"The basic principle should be clear: we should not recognize any fees or taxes for using these routes as legitimate," Kallas said.
She also warned that blocking the strait through which energy and fertilizer supplies pass is causing serious damage to the global economy. In this regard, the EU is ready to act together with its partners, but only after the end of hostilities.
