Kim Jong-un sent $2 million to the Association of Korean Citizens in Japan
On the occasion of the 114th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the state, Kim Il Sung, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent funds to the Association of Korean Citizens in Japan (Chongryon) in the amount of 316 million 360 thousand yen (about $ 2 million). This was reported on April 14 by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
It is noted that the funds will be used for educational needs and the payment of scholarships. In total, during the existence of the DPRK, three leaders of the state — Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un — have made a total of 172 donations worth $313 million.
"The funds sent so far by the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un (172 times in total) to the fund for education and scholarships for children of Korean citizens in Japan amount to a total of 50 billion 304 million 950 thousand 390 yen ($313 millions - Ed.)," the agency said in a statement.
On Saturday, April 12, the leader of the DPRK also attended the test launches of strategic cruise and anti-ship missiles from aboard the destroyer of the naval forces of the Korean People's Army (KPA Navy) Choe Hyun. On the same day, he received a report on the review of the draft composition of the weapons systems of the third and fourth destroyers under construction.
