The main roles in the series "ROOKS" were played by Artem Tkachenko, Alexey Makarov, Alexey Serebryakov, Evgenia Dmitrieva, Daria Balabanova and Mikhail Evlanov. The project was shot by PIMANOV AND PARTNERS film company with the participation of ODA FILM PRODUCTION, commissioned by REN TV and Wink.ru . The online premiere took place on Wink.ru .

The action takes place in 1947. Police captain Alexander Ratnikov (Artem Tkachenko) is investigating a series of murders in Leningrad. The trail leads to Pavel Vedernikov (Alexey Makarov), a technologist at a local fish farm. It turns out that in fact, technologist Vedernikov is a former deputy head of the Nazi concentration camp for children "Grachi" named Gunther Seiler.

Skillfully posing as a Soviet citizen, Zeiler hunts for his family's art collection, which disappeared during the war. The criminal is ready to walk over corpses, just to get what he wants and go beyond the cordon. Ratnikov intends to catch Seiler at any cost: this Nazi is the only clue in the story of the captain's daughter, who disappeared during the war.

The creators of the series relied on realism: large-scale filming took place in St. Petersburg and in the Leningrad region — in Novaya Ladoga, Vyborg, as well as in the waters of Lake Ladoga, and the final scene of the ship chase was shot without the use of computer graphics.

"The script seemed to me deep and multi-layered: against the background of a really interesting detective storyline, the personal drama of the hero who is looking for his daughter unfolds. And it's clearly spelled out, with good dialogues. And, of course, the timing of the action was fascinating – it's always interesting to play another era. I was originally supposed to play Gunther Zeller. But the team decided to do the opposite: I, whom the audience is used to seeing as a negative character, was offered the role of a positive hero. At first, I was a little upset – it seemed to me that Zeller was more diverse. But, having gone into the script again, I realized that there is a lot of interesting acting in the image of Captain Ratnikov: there is heroism, pain of loss, loneliness, and hopelessness in him. It's a well-written, fascinating story. The audience loves detective stories — and there are plenty of them here," said Artem Tkachenko, who plays police captain Alexander Ratnikov.

"The script is written well, competently. It doesn't have pretentious, but absolutely authentic dialogues that bribed me. That's why I didn't even think for a second, I immediately clung on: "I want to, I want to, give it to me, I'll play it!" Any actor dreams of getting out of an established role. A scoundrel is such a scoundrel. In my opinion, this is even more interesting," said Alexey Makarov, who plays the role of Gunther Zeller.
