Nutritionist warned about the dangers of eating too fast
A meal that lasts only 20 minutes can be dangerous to health, as the body is a complex and delicate mechanism that can be easily disabled, and not just a machine that can be quickly refueled and moved on. Nutritionist Elena Solomatina told about this on Monday, April 13.
According to her, first we "eat with our eyes" — the brain must tune in to the meal. At this point, hormones and neurotransmitters are produced, and gastric juice begins to be released.
"The digestive organs must have time to prepare for work, and this takes time. The better we chew food, especially starchy ones, the easier it will be to digest. This is especially important for meat: if it gets into the stomach in chunks, digestion will take longer and become more complicated," Solomatina explained in an interview with Paragraph.
Haste is the enemy of digestion, the specialist emphasized. Digestion and assimilation of food occurs only at rest, when the parasympathetic nervous system is active. If you start moving actively immediately after eating, working mentally or physically, or feeling nervous, the body redistributes resources, and the work of the gastrointestinal tract slows down or even stops.
"Undigested food enters the intestines and cannot be absorbed properly, which leads to intoxication, inflammation and premature cell wear. As a result, this leads to diseases and early aging," the doctor warned.
She specified that a minimum of 30 minutes should be allocated for lunch, and ideally 40-50 minutes. After eating, it is advisable to sit a little longer, rather than jump up and run around, " concluded the nutritionist.
In turn, Alexey Bereznikov, MD, head of the Department of Dietetics at Rosbiotech University, said in an interview with RT that for lunch you need to slowly eat soup, and then you will notice that you no longer want salad and dessert. At the same time, if you have lunch quickly and eat all these ingredients, you will soon feel overeating and heaviness in your stomach, writes Life.Ru .
Solomatina told on April 8 360.ru that regular overeating at night is fraught with big health problems. She noted that the brain is the most sensitive to this, so this means the risk of developing early dementia and impaired cognitive abilities.
Nuria Dianova, executive director of the ANO SIC "Healthy Nutrition", nutritionist and gastroenterologist, warned that ready-made food can help improve the diet, but many kits are unbalanced and sometimes caused food poisoning, writes RIAMO.
Earlier, on February 24, therapist Olga Sivaeva told us what causes drowsiness after eating. The desire to relax is due to the fact that the body directs resources to digest food and actively produces insulin. The doctor explained that blood rushes to the stomach and intestines at this time, which causes the brain to receive a little less oxygen and a slight lethargy occurs.
