The RPL announced a tightening of the limit on foreign players from next season

The Russian Premier League (RPL) intends to tighten the limits on the number of foreign players starting next season. The document was published on April 13 by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation on the official Internet portal of draft regulations.

According to the initiative, in the 2026/27 season, RPL teams will be able to register no more than 12 foreign players in the team, and those who will be present on the field should not be more than seven. However, this restriction reform is not limited to one season.
