- Two more articles may be added to the case of those who attacked the Izvestia correspondent.
The defendants in the case of the attack on the correspondent of Izvestia, Alexei Poltoranin, may be prosecuted under a number of articles on unlawful imprisonment and unlawful access to computer information. Mikhail Mushailov, the lawyer of the injured journalist, told Izvestia about this on April 13.
"We are sending the relevant petitions, and the investigation is checking the procedural possibility of incriminating Article 127 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Unlawful deprivation of liberty." — Ed.), <... 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Unlawful access to computer information" — deleting photo galleries, files, media files from a mobile phone, as well as zeroing out a mobile phone)," he said.
Mushailov also explained that all the defendants in the case recognize the use of force against Poltoranin. However, they claim that they did not know about his work in the media. The lawyer called this an important aspect of the qualification of the case, as it allows investigating a specialized article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on obstruction of the legitimate activities of a journalist.
On March 25, employees of a company illegally selling "beautiful" license plates for cars attacked Alexey Poltoranin, a correspondent for Izvestia, who was investigating the activities of the Beautiful Series company. They brutally beat the journalist, tried to kidnap him and threatened to cut off his fingers.
Three people are involved in the criminal case. The first person involved, Pavel Poghosyan, the alleged director of the company, was arrested for two months on March 27. At the same time, Alexander Fomin was arrested. The "businessman" Artur Davydov was also sent to jail for two months. There was no remorse on their part.
