- The Kremlin warned about the negative impact of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz on the markets
The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States will have a negative impact on international energy markets. This was announced on April 13 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Most likely, such actions will continue to negatively affect international markets. This can be assumed with a high degree of confidence," he said at a briefing.
On April 12, US President Donald Trump announced that the US Navy was beginning to block all ships that would attempt to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, the negotiations in Islamabad went well, but the key nuclear issue remained unresolved. Trump said Iran had prevented free passage for ships by using threats about mines.
Mohsen Rezai, a senior military adviser to Iran's supreme leader and former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said on April 13 that any US attempts to establish a naval blockade of Iran were doomed to failure. At the same time, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer assured that the kingdom did not support the operation and would not participate in it.
