The court kept Poltoranin, who attacked the Izvestia correspondent, under arrest
The Moscow Regional Court rejected an appeal against the arrest of employees of the Krasavaya Seria company, Alexander Fomin and Artur Davydov, accused of assaulting Izvestia correspondent Alexei Poltoranin during a journalistic investigation into the sale of "beautiful rooms." This was announced on April 13 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
Davydov stated at the meeting that he had not committed any illegal actions. He also asked for the measure of restraint to be changed to house arrest or a ban on certain actions.
Fomin and his lawyers petitioned for the application of a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. The defense of the defendant pointed out that Fomin apologized during the confrontation with Poltoranin, therefore, detention, according to lawyers, is an excessive measure. In addition, the defendant admitted the fact of beating Poltoranin.
The Prosecutor's office believes that the arrest of Davydov and Fomin is lawful and justified, since they are accused of committing a serious crime. In addition, there are grounds to believe that, being at large, they may escape from the investigation and the court, as well as obstruct the criminal proceedings.
On March 25, employees of a company illegally selling "beautiful" license plates for cars attacked Alexey Poltoranin, a correspondent for Izvestia, who was investigating the activities of the Krasavaya Seria company. They brutally beat the journalist, tried to kidnap him and threatened to cut off his fingers.
Three people are involved in the criminal case. The first person involved, Pavel Poghosyan, the alleged director of the company, was arrested for two months on March 27. At the same time, Alexander Fomin was arrested. The "businessman" Artur Davydov was also sent to jail for two months. There was no remorse on their part.
