Doctors of the Tyumen region managed to save a 91-year-old woman who was diagnosed with a ruptured aortic aneurysm with a complication. This was announced on April 12 by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
"Doctors successfully operated on the patient, despite the high risk of complications due to concomitant pathology," the press service said in a message on the MAX messenger.
It is specified that the woman was admitted to the regional hospital No. 4 in the city of Ishim with a complaint of acute abdominal and back pain. During the examination, doctors revealed a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm with internal bleeding. After consultation with the cardiovascular surgeons of Tyumen regional Clinical hospital No. 1, the doctors successfully operated on the patient, prosthetically repairing the damaged area.
The press service added that at the moment the patient's condition has improved, she is being prepared for discharge.
"Teamwork and continuity between the medical institutions of the region made it possible to save the patient's life, despite the extremely unfavorable prognosis," said Mansur Kosimov, a cardiovascular surgeon at regional Hospital No. 4.
On April 10, Ilya Seredyuk, Governor of the Kemerovo Region, announced that doctors had managed to start the patient's heart 71 minutes after it stopped. According to him, the woman was admitted to the cardiology clinic with an acute heart attack and cardiogenic shock, after which she suffered clinical death in the emergency department.
