The United States needs to rethink relations with NATO after the alliance did not support Washington in the operation against Iran. This was announced on April 12 by the American leader Donald Trump.

"We are very disappointed with NATO. We are very, very disappointed that they did not come. <...> Now we have to review relations with NATO," he said in an interview with Fox News channel.

The head of the White House stressed that the American side is extremely dissatisfied with the position of the allies in the current situation.

The American leader also expressed confidence that in the future, the members of the alliance will not support Washington when it is needed.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on April 10 that Trump lost his temper at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte over the alliance's refusal to assist in a military operation against Iran. The American leader was reportedly unhappy with the refusal of France, Spain and Italy to provide access to military bases.

On April 1, the US president announced that he was seriously considering the US withdrawal from NATO after the alliance refused to help in the conflict with Iran. According to him, the North Atlantic Alliance has never influenced him. Trump called the participants paper tigers.
