- NYT pointed to Russia's superiority over the United States in the production of advanced UAVs
Russia has surpassed the United States in creating facilities capable of producing advanced drones. This was reported on April 12 by The New York Times newspaper, citing sources in the administration of US President Donald Trump.
"According to estimates, Russia is also ahead (of the United States — Ed.) in building enterprises that can produce high—tech drones," the publication says, citing officials from the Pentagon.
According to the publication, Washington saw China as its main military competitor, but during the Ukrainian conflict, Russia began using drones with advanced technologies, including the use of artificial intelligence, which alarmed American intelligence.
The sources of the publication also concluded that the American drone production program is inferior to the Chinese one. The military parade in Beijing last September, attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin as a guest, caused alarm in the United States. The publication also notes that China can produce autonomous weapons systems on a scale that the Pentagon cannot match.
Military expert Konstantin Sivkov announced on September 27 last year that the new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) The Zozulya of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is practically an analog of the Russian drone of the Geranium model, but it is inferior to it in flight range.
