Peskov called it beneficial for Europe to use Russia as an enemy.
It has always been advantageous for European countries to use Russia as an imaginary enemy. This was announced on April 12 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"It has always been convenient for them to use us as an imaginary enemy in order to formalize some processes within themselves under this bench. Drawing an image of an external enemy is always convenient for domestic political purposes," he said in an interview with Pavel Zarubin, a journalist at the Vesti news agency.
Peskov noted that Russia, being a large Eurasian country, has always frightened many Europeans with its size and power. According to him, it was convenient for European states to portray Russia as an external enemy. He cited the example of Great Britain, Poland and other European countries that used this approach.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin said on March 27 that Russia's relations with European countries were in crisis, and it was not Moscow's fault. Putin also stressed that the Russian side has never refused to restore relations with European countries.
