Court arrests engineer in Dagestan dam breach case

In Dagestan, a court arrested an engineer who was responsible for the safe operation of the Gedzhukhskoye reservoir in the case of a burst dam. This was announced on April 12 in the press service of the Supreme Court of the Republic.

On April 10, employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia detained an engineer responsible for ensuring the safety of the Gejukh reservoir.

As a result of heavy rainfall on April 5, the Gedzhukhsky reservoir overflowed in Dagestan, which caused an earthen rampart to be breached. It was noted that a pregnant woman and a child died after they were swept away by the current. In addition, an apartment building in Makhachkala collapsed.
