On Easter day, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrates Great Vespers at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. Izvestia is broadcasting live.

The service will start at 16:00.

Easter Vespers is a part of the Easter service in the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), which ends the first day of Easter. It symbolizes the joy of the Resurrection of Christ and is an important stage of the celebration.

On April 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated all Orthodox Christians and citizens of Russia on the Holy Easter holiday. He noted the enormous creative role of the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations in preserving historical and cultural heritage, as well as in strengthening the institution of the family and educating young people.

On April 12, Patriarch Kirill congratulated all believers on the great feast of Holy Easter. He noted that the resurrection of Christ symbolizes victory over death and the opening of the gates of the Kingdom of heaven, and also stressed the importance of referring to the encouraging words of the prophet Isaiah.: "Do not be afraid, for I am with you." The Patriarch wished these words to comfort in the most difficult circumstances of life, and faith in the risen Lord to help overcome all doubts, worries and fears.
