The Russian space industry continues to strengthen its leading position in the world by consistently implementing its strategic projects. This was announced on April 12 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, congratulating employees and veterans of the rocket and space industry on their professional holiday — Cosmonautics Day.

"Despite unprecedented challenges, the Russian space industry continues to strengthen its leading position. Strategic projects aimed at strengthening technological sovereignty, defense capability and national security are being consistently implemented, primarily by scaling up the orbital group," the telegram on the website of the Government of the Russian Federation says.

Mishustin recalled that the Russian Federation has launched satellites for global coverage communications services, as well as a new-generation radar satellite for remote sensing of the Earth. In addition, the results obtained from the Bion-M biosatellite have already begun to help prepare future manned expeditions for deep space.

Russian specialists have also successfully tested the engine for the Soyuz-5 rocket and updated the launch complex for heavy launch vehicles Angara at the Vostochny cosmodrome.

"All these achievements have become possible thanks to the well—coordinated work of many thousands of highly qualified employees: engineers, researchers, designers, testers and cosmonauts," Mishustin emphasized.

The Prime Minister added that industry workers solve complex tasks every day, introduce modern technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) systems, and also make an invaluable contribution to the development of the country's rocket and space industry.

The research of the Caring Person platform, published on April 12, showed an increased interest of Russians in the topic of cosmonautics. About 76% of Russian university students are interested in the topic of space, and 48% of them prefer to receive information about space through short videos.

Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Sergey Mikaev and Andrey Fedyaev, who are on board the International Space Station (ISS), congratulated their fellow citizens on Cosmonautics Day on April 12. Mikaev noted that nowadays astronauts make hundreds and thousands of orbits around the planet, thereby helping science and gaining new knowledge about the universe. He noted that all this would not have happened without the contribution of "our great predecessor."
