In Finland, a local resident discovered a drone with a warhead in the forest.
A drone with a warhead was found in the Finnish municipality of Iitti — the device was lying on the ground and was found by a random passerby, Yle TV and radio company reported on April 12.
The area where the drone was detected, where residential buildings are located a kilometer from the scene, was cordoned off by police, and roads were blocked. Later, the military and police jointly eliminated the explosive object.
The found drone resembles the devices that were discovered in the south-east of the country in late March and early April. Some of these drones have been identified as Ukrainian AN-196 "Fierce", which are capable of flying more than 1,000 km.
"This is a long-range UAV capable of carrying explosives. The wingspan of the UAV is 6.7 m, the length is 4.4 m," the report says.
At the moment, it has not been established where this drone came from or what its route was. Police are continuing to investigate whether this incident is related to previous cases.
On April 2, the former director of research of the Finnish Defense Forces, Yuri Kosola, said that Helsinki was not up to the task of controlling drones in its airspace. It was noted that the problem lies in the radar equipment, which is not capable of identifying small aerial targets.
On April 3, Finnish politician Armando Mema from the Freedom Alliance party demanded that Finland stop drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) that cross the country's airspace to strike targets in Russia.
