- The Russian Foreign Ministry called "working on mistakes" the primary task of the new UN Secretary General
The primary task of the new Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) will be "painstaking work on mistakes." This was announced on April 12 by Kirill Logvinov, Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"I proceed from the fact that the corresponding painstaking "work on mistakes" will be the primary task of the new Secretary General, who is due to take up his duties in January next year," Logvinov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On April 4, Logvinov said that the new UN Secretary General is capable of restoring order in the organization. According to him, the work of the entire international system will depend on the outcome of the candidate's selection. Logvinov also expressed the opinion that the organization has a chance to get rid of the influence of Western countries.
On the same day, Logvinov stated that Russia's main requirements for a candidate for the post of UN Secretary General are the rejection of double standards, equidistance of position and ensuring a healthy interstate dialogue.
