Rospotrebnadzor gave recommendations on protecting children from ticks
To protect the child from ticks, you should choose closed clothes, do not walk on the grass and use strollers. This was reported on April 12 in Rospotrebnadzor.
"If possible, carry babies in your arms or use strollers — this significantly reduces the likelihood that the child will sit or lie down directly on the grass, where ticks are most often found. When moving around the park, try to walk along the center of the paths, avoiding the edges where tall vegetation and shrubs grow," RIA Novosti quoted Rospotrebnadzor as saying.
The agency's specialists advised treating the lower parts of the stroller with acaricide spray if movement on grassy areas cannot be avoided. This will reduce the risk of parasite transmission through the device's mechanisms.
"For older children, explain the rules of behavior: do not enter tall grass and thickets, if possible, wear closed clothes and shoes," the Rospotrebnadzor emphasized.
The department noted that after a walk, it is necessary to carefully inspect clothes, shoes, a stroller and the child himself. On the skin, ticks should be looked for in the folds, behind the ears, in the neck, armpits, groin and on the scalp. In case of insect detection or redness, it is recommended to consult a specialist immediately.
Earlier, on April 6, infectious disease specialist Elena Meskina said that a tick can cause various dangerous diseases such as encephalitis, borreliosis, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, tularemia and typhus. According to the specialist, any changes in the state of health after a tick bite are a reason to contact a medical institution.
