Patriarch Kirill thanked Putin for handing over two icons from the Tretyakov Gallery to the Russian Orthodox Church

On April 12, Patriarch Kirill thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for handing over two icons from the Tretyakov Gallery to the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).

"Deeply respected Vladimir Vladimirovich, as President of the country, you have already done a lot that will undoubtedly go down in history as good and important deeds for our Fatherland. [This is] an event <... He will go down not only in the history of the country, in the history of the church, he will go down deeply in the history of our people. Because the great shrines of the Russian land have been returned, before which generations and generations of our people have prayed," the patriarch said.
