Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Sergey Mikaev and Andrey Fedyaev, who are on board the International Space Station, congratulated their fellow citizens on Cosmonautics Day. The footage of the video message was published on April 12 by the Roscosmos state Corporation in the MAX messenger.

"Dear friends, we congratulate you on Cosmonautics Day! 65 years ago, on the same spring day, Yuri Gagarin orbited the planet, the first among earthlings, seeing it from the outside and appreciating the beauty of our common home," said station commander Sergey Kud-Sverchkov.

Mikaev noted that nowadays astronauts make hundreds and thousands of such orbits, thereby helping science and gaining new knowledge about the universe. He noted that all this would not have happened without the contribution of "our great predecessor."

In turn, Fedyaev added that this year an entire week in Russia was dedicated to Space, during which numerous events dedicated to cosmonautics and its development were held throughout the country. In conclusion, he once again congratulated the Russians and urged them to look up again, to dream of the stars and distant planets.

On April 6, Roscosmos cosmonauts also congratulated the residents of the Russian Federation on the beginning of the first Russian Space Week, which runs from April 6 to April 12. Mikaev noted the symbolism of the fact that the first Space Week is held in the year of the 65th anniversary of the human flight beyond the Earth. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin opened the way to the stars for mankind and forever inscribed his name in history, he added.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
