Guards Corporal Ivan Safonov destroyed part of the enemy brigade with targeted fire

Guard Corporal Ilya Safonov, being part of the motorized rifle squad, destroyed the militants of the sabotage group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with aimed fire from standard weapons and using a grenade. This was announced on April 11 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

Safonov carried out the task of aerial surveillance and defense of a stronghold in a wooded area in the area of one of the liberated settlements. Due to the difficult weather conditions, the enemy attempted to secretly outflank the Russian positions. Safonov promptly identified the movement of the group and immediately reported the situation to the commander.

Having received the order to repel the attack, the guard corporal, under the cover of the fire of his comrades, stealthily advanced towards the enemy, using the terrain features. Having taken an advantageous position, he hurled a grenade at the center of the enemy group from close range, after which he opened targeted fire. As a result, most of the sabotage group was destroyed, the rest were forced to retreat.

Thanks to Safonov's courage and heroism, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters were forced to retreat due to their defeat.

The Russian Defense Ministry also noted the actions of Guard Sergeant Dmitry Fetka, who served as the senior driver of a motorized rifle company and delivered personnel in a Buggy-type vehicle to the line of combat contact.

While driving, he detected the approach of enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Having assessed the threat, Fetku promptly took the car out of the danger zone, overcame an open area and took refuge in a wooded area.

With accurate shots from the guards, the sergeant destroyed three enemy drones, which detonated in the air without causing damage to personnel and equipment.

Thanks to Fetku's professional skills, the combat mission was completed, which allowed the unit to safely gain a foothold in an important area.

On April 9, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Sergeant Vladimir Kostylev destroyed two Ukrainian FPV drones during a combat mission to deliver logistical equipment to Russian servicemen. In addition, the Russian Defense Ministry noted the actions of Second Lieutenant Vladislav Yakushev, who carried out a combat mission to detect and identify strongholds and camouflaged positions of Ukrainian militants near the line of contact.
