The tragedy in Kamchatka, which killed two tourists, was caused by a number of system errors. This was announced on April 10 by the head of the search organization "PrimPoisk" Kristina Wulfert.

According to her, the key violation was non-compliance with the basic rules of mountaineering.

"There is an iron rule in the mountains: "we went together, we came together." If a conflict arises, it must be resolved on the spot, without breaking up the team. Splitting up is already a risk, not being able to contact rescuers is a double risk," the expert emphasized in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Wulfert noted that the Avacha volcano and the pass of the same name pose a serious danger in spring due to deep snow, blizzards and the risk of avalanches. The group ignored the worsening weather, although in such a situation it was necessary to immediately stop moving.

"When the weather started to deteriorate, it was necessary not to go ahead, but to set up camp and wait, or return," explained Wulfert.

The specialist expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and urged other tourists to learn from similar incidents. She added that "any tragedy in the mountains is, first of all, a lesson that has been paid for by someone's lives."

The loss of the tour group became known the day before. According to the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Sergey Lebedev, the tourists quarreled and split up, after which the group of seven people stopped contacting. On April 10, the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that a Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations was involved in the search. Rescuers examined the possible route of the group from different sides.

The government of the Kamchatka Territory announced on the same day that five of the seven tourists missing in Kamchatka had been found alive, and two had died. Later, the helicopter with the injured tourists landed on the closed site of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The injured tourists are in a moderate condition.
