Indonesia supports Russia's desire to prevent an arms race in outer space
Indonesia supports Russia in its desire to develop a new legal document that will prevent an arms race in outer space. This was announced on April 10 by Arif Satria, Chairman of the National Agency for Research and Innovation of the Republic of Indonesia, following the results of the Russian Space Forum in Moscow.
"This is a very important and meaningful initiative for our lives, which is important for global sustainability. We must use space for the benefit of humanity, as a space for sustainable development and ensuring peace," TASS quoted him as saying.
He expressed gratitude to Russia for the initiative in preventing an arms race, and also noted its importance.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on March 16 that due to the destructive actions of the United States in defense, the risks of militarization of outer space are increasing. According to him, a significant threat to strategic stability is posed by the implementation of the project to create the American Golden Dome missile defense system, which provides for the deployment of space-based interception weapons by 2028.
