The State Traffic Inspectorate announced mass inspections of drivers in Russia
On Friday and next weekend, from April 10 to April 12, the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to suppressing the facts of driving under the influence. The upcoming raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.
Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on the roads in Samara, Rostov, Kirov, Ivanovo, Kursk, Lipetsk, Ulyanovsk and Jewish Autonomous Regions, Nenets Autonomous Okrug and other regions of the country.
"Driving while intoxicated is unacceptable: such irresponsible and criminal behavior of the driver poses a threat to his life, as well as the lives of his passengers and other road users, driving drunk. We kindly ask the witnesses to inform the police about drivers who get behind the wheel while intoxicated. The necessary response measures will be taken for all these reports. Such a call can prevent a tragedy on the road and save someone's life," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entails the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver is already facing criminal liability.
According to the results of January-February 2026, the number of accidents involving victims on the roads of Russia decreased by 8.2% compared to the same period last year. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on April 7, the number of people killed in road accidents during this period decreased by 13.2%, and the number of injured citizens decreased by 6.3%.
