A US Air Force KC-135R tanker aircraft has sounded an alarm in the skies over the Mediterranean Sea. This was confirmed on April 10 by data from aviation monitoring resources.

The air tanker requested assistance when it was in the airspace near the Greek island of Crete. The ship's crew set the 7700 code on the transponder, which in international aviation means a general emergency.
