The American side intends to include the release of Americans detained in Iran in the list of demands at the upcoming peace talks in Pakistan. This was reported on April 10 by The Washington Post (WP), citing sources.

According to the report, it is not yet clear how aggressively representatives of the administration of US President Donald Trump will put pressure on Iran to release the detained Americans. Some of the newspaper's sources expressed concern that in case of difficulties in negotiations, this demand could be postponed, as the truce is already under enormous pressure.

It is noted that there may be at least six US citizens in Iran who are either imprisoned or banned from leaving the country.

On the same day, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance announced that the American delegation was going to Pakistan for talks on Iran with clear instructions from Trump. He also noted that the US negotiating team is "not very susceptible" to manipulation and expects cooperation from the Iranian side.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said that Tehran's negotiations with Washington can only take place on the basis of a 10-point plan, which American representatives called acceptable. He added that Iran no longer intends to make concessions to the United States on the ceasefire.
