The State Duma called Zhirinovsky one of the creators of a multiparty system in Russia.

The Central Exhibition Hall "Manege" hosted the opening of the exhibition "Zhirinovsky. Continuation. LDPR", dedicated to the personality of the founder of the Liberal Democratic Party of the Russian Federation Vladimir Zhirinovsky on the eve of his 80th birthday anniversary. Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, who attended the event on April 10, noted that Zhirinovsky had become one of the creators of the multiparty system in Russia.

"When we talk about Vladimir Volfovich, it must be emphasized that he is one of the creators of the multiparty system in our country," Volodin said.

He clarified that with the advent of the Liberal Democratic Party, several political parties have appeared in the country. Zhirinovsky headed the Liberal Democratic Party for more than 30 years, and was also a deputy of the State Duma of all eight convocations.

"Vladimir Volfovich had a position. He expressed it, defended his point of view. Today we remember his actions, because politics is about actions and decisions. It was inherent in him even when he was in his third year. Therefore, when today they especially start saying that it is necessary to create conditions," Volodin said.

The chairman of the State Duma added that Zhirinovsky became a politician because he had to overcome many challenges every time, which is why a person always becomes stronger as a person.

"Politics is not my own thing. So he went through it all, fighting. <...> He was already realizing himself when he was young, but at the same time he went through life and no one helped him. And through this, strong people are formed. And it is important for us that such people participate in politics, because they will be strong," Volodin added.

This year, on April 25, the politician would have turned 80 years old. The exhibition "Zhirinovsky. Continuation. LDPR" in the Arena will last for two weeks — from April 11 to 23.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on April 7 that Russian President Vladimir Putin had great respect for LDPR founder Vladimir Zhirinovsky, and their dialogue had always been very informative and interesting for both sides. Peskov added that he had known the politician for a long time as an orientalist and his talent for understanding the intricacies of international politics could not be overestimated.

In 2024, Putin instructed to hold events in 2026 dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the former leader of the Liberal Democratic Party. Zhirinovsky died on April 6, 2022 after a long illness at the age of 75.
