Cosmonauts' cook named the average meal check in space
The average check for breakfast, lunch and dinner in orbit is several tens of thousands of rubles. This was announced on April 10 by Andrey Vedernikov, Head of the Space Nutrition Department at the Research Institute of Food Processing and Special Food Technology.
"The average bill for meals in space per day, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, is several tens of thousands of rubles," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The specialist explained that this amount includes not only the food itself, but also special packaging, as well as laboratory tests of each batch of products sent to the ISS.
Vedernikov also shared the details of the space menu. Astronauts usually have an omelet for breakfast, a classic one with mushrooms or vegetables. The morning diet also includes sweet cottage cheese, cereals, coffee with milk and tea. Salad, soup and a second course are always served for lunch.
Russian cosmonaut, Major General of Aviation Vladimir Dzhanibekov said on January 23 that smoking in space is possible, but it is not reasonable. When asked about the possibility of other unusual activities, he stated that "anything is possible in space." He also noted that astronauts endure being in zero gravity in different ways.
