The truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the Orthodox Easter holiday has begun. It will be valid from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12, 2026.

Russia has stopped fighting in all directions for this time. The head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Andrei Belousov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, were given appropriate instructions.

On April 10, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, called Putin's decision on a truce a humane and merciful step. According to the Ombudsman, a pause in the fighting will allow for the evacuation of the wounded, organize searches for the missing and deliver humanitarian aid to the most affected areas.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed on April 10 that the Russian side does not want a temporary truce with Ukraine, it is seeking a lasting and sustainable peace. He also added that peace can be achieved if the Ukrainian side can make appropriate decisions.

Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Ambassador-at-large for crimes committed by the Kiev regime, warned on the same day that statements by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about preparing meetings with representatives of Russia and the United States were being made in order to gain a strategic advantage during a respite. He stressed that any attempt to use Russia's "humane step" for military purposes in Kiev "will not work" and will be severely suppressed by the Russian army.
