On April 10, actress Ekaterina Volkova announced her dismissal from the Comedy Theater — the management considered her too old for young heroines in the repertoire.

"I was fired under the article "Old". I don't know if there is such a thing in the Labor Code. But in the theater where I served, she turned out to be the main one," Volkova wrote on the MAX messenger.

It is clarified that the artistic director of the theater suggested that she "end the collaboration" and named several reasons: refusal to work in old productions, lack of suitable roles and age. As the actress noted, Suzanne in "Figaro" is 18 years old, Eliza in "Pygmalion" is about that, and Volkova is 44. She added that no real man has the right to tell a woman that she is old.

"It's not 'fair.' It's low. And it's ugly," said Volkova.

She also said that she had already received new offers and would soon announce which theater she would continue working in.
