The largest Ukrainian community center "Voice of Ukrainians" was evicted in Brussels
After almost four years of operation, the center of the Committee for Refugees "Ukrainian Voices", located in Brussels, closed on April 1 after an eviction notice from the regional public service of the Brussels-Capital region. This was announced on April 10 by the Euractiv portal.
It clarifies that the decision was made during a long period of political stagnation in the Belgian capital region, which spent 613 days without an elected government.
"The interim administration has decided to reduce funding for the center as part of broader budget cuts. The annual budget of the center was about 800 thousand euros. Monthly expenses, including taxes and utilities, amounted to approximately 30 thousand euros," the publication says.
When the eviction procedure was completed, the head of the center, Pavlo Koshka, said that the organization "does not have the money" to cover the costs on its own.
The publication "Country.ua" reported on April 9 that the European Union (EU) is reviewing its strategy towards Ukraine against the background of the military conflict between the United States and Iran. As noted in the publication, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky may launch a counterattack, limiting the activities of European agencies or slowing down the adoption of draft laws required by the EU on the personnel selection of heads of law enforcement agencies.
German MEP Michael von der Schulenburg said on April 6 that Europe, without the support of the United States, has neither the financial nor the military resources to continue the conflict in Ukraine. Also, from the point of view of geopolitics, the end of the war in Iran does not bode well for them. He noted that the Europeans are puzzled and do not know which side's position they should take.
