The Kremlin saw Zelensky's statement on the Easter truce
The Kremlin has seen a statement by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky that the Ukrainian side intends to follow Russia's example and join the Easter truce. This was announced on April 10 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
On April 9, Putin announced the Easter truce from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12. It was clarified that the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andrei Belousov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, were instructed to stop the fighting for the period of the truce. Later, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky added that Kiev was ready for mirror measures.
On April 19, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, called Putin's decision on a truce a humane and merciful step. According to the Ombudsman, a pause in the fighting will allow for the evacuation of the wounded, organize searches for the missing and deliver humanitarian aid to the most affected areas.
