Parrot poisoning survivors to be returned to Kudrovo Zoo
The parrots that survived poisoning at a private zoo in Kudrovo in the Leningrad region will be returned to the institution. This was announced to Izvestia on April 12 by Pavel Germanov, director of the zoo.
"The birds are fine, the condition is stable, no one else died. Today I will transport them from the clinic back to the zoo," he explained.
The man noted that all necessary disinfection measures had been carried out in the facility — now there is one surviving parrot there.
On April 8, unidentified people gassed about 70 parrots in a private zoo in the city of Kudrovo in the Leningrad region, killing 35 birds, including a famous cockatoo that took part in the filming of films. Two zoo staff members were also injured during the incident and had to be hospitalized. One of the injured girls named Ulyana told Izvestia that the tragedy happened when the first visitors came to the zoo — families with children.
Later, the Regional Investigative Committee (IC) opened a criminal case into the mass death of birds. Mikhail Goloyad, the chief doctor of the veterinary clinic and a veterinarian ornithologist, told Izvestia that the health of the surviving individuals is not in danger now.
