The MAYOR allocated a record amount of time to promote Space Week
How to talk about space and create content in the digital age was discussed at the Russian Space Forum, which became a key event of the first Space Week. The MAER media holding became the communication partner of the Forum and the entire Space Week. Its owner and CEO Konstantin Major has shown from his own experience how to ensure the advancement of the national space industry on a cosmic scale.
"Space should move from scientific centers to everyday life: on social networks, on digital screens, into the urban environment! We are living in a unique moment: humanity is simultaneously experiencing a boom in space technology and a crisis of attention. And in order to attract this attention, it is no longer enough for space to remain only a scientific topic," said Konstantin Mayor, owner and CEO of the MAER media holding during the discussion.
To support Space Week, the MAYOR allocated a significant amount of airtime and developed his own themed videos. 25 million people saw the information on media facades and digital street screens across the country alone. In total, this is over 2 billion views in 2 weeks. In addition, MAER broadcasts the main news of the Space Week together with the holding's media — the Rosbalt agency and the Novye Izvestia publication.
Since the signing of the cooperation agreement with Roscosmos, MAER has broadcast all 15 launches live on the streets. In addition, passers-by and motorists regularly see holiday greetings that astronauts record directly on the ISS and send back to Earth. Thus, news about Russian cosmonautics and images of space explorers have actually become part of the urban environment, Konstantin Mayor concluded.
"It is important to show that space is not only a fantasy, but also a concrete benefit for people on Earth. Engineers and programmers create services and equipment that work here and now, save lives, earn money and shape the economy. At the same time, it is necessary to involve young people, to show the importance of work, its value and contribution to the industry. Even a few minutes of interest can turn into a long—term passion and training for future specialists," said Boris Glazkov, Deputy Director General for Strategic Development at the State Corporation for Space Activities Roscosmos.
All the speakers agreed that space today is a scientific discovery and a source of breakthrough technologies that affect the economy, industry and everyday life. In these conditions, the creation of modern content through the media plays a special role.
