VKontakte and Roscosmos presented the Mythbusters project
VKontakte and Roscosmos presented the Mythbusters project. The heroes were cosmonauts Kirill Peskov and Alexey Zubritsky, actor and showman Alexander Revva, blogger and actress Anna Pokrov, comedian and presenter Olga Parfenyuk, basketball player and president of the Russian Basketball Federation Andrei Kirilenko. They discussed scenes from films about space and sorted out where the truth is and where the fiction is.
The guests watched and discussed excerpts from Konstantin Bronzit's 2016 Oscar-nominated animated film "We Can't Live without Space", the films "Apollo 13", "Time of the First", "Challenge" and "Zhdun 2". The meeting was moderated by Dmitry Lushnikov, PR director of the social network.
Kirill Peskov and Alexey Zubritsky explained where cinema embellishes reality, and shared details of their training and life in orbit. During parachute training, they solve logical problems in 60 seconds in free fall from a height of 1,200 meters — the tasks are recorded directly on their wrist. In space, chess is played on magnets so that the pieces do not fly apart modulo. The astronauts said that the thickness of the walls of the ISS modules is only 2 mm, sometimes a person and outer space are separated by 1 mm of rubber. They noted that there have been no classic tubes in space for a long time. The food is prepared in a special factory: it is dehydrated and the air is pumped out.
Kirill Peskov answered Andrey Kirilenko's question about what to do when encountering an alien.: "To be human." Alexey Zubritsky admitted that he dreams of Earth in space, and space on Earth. He called the movie "Interstellar" his favorite and closest to reality.
The cosmonauts who are on the ISS — Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Sergey Mikaev and Andrey Fedyaev - took part in the show. They answered questions about life in orbit, favorite movies about space, daily training and everyday features of the station.
The premiere of the Mythbusters show is available exclusively on VK Video.
The social network has prepared activities for Space Week. Users can give each other a virtual gift with Spotty and Peach mascots in zero gravity, participate in the "Just Space" raffle: launch stars on the covers of friends' profiles, complete tasks and win prizes. A thematic challenge "To the Moon with Roscosmos" is taking place in VK Steps, space templates have appeared in stories, and themed wallpapers have appeared in the VKontakte messenger. The #my universe trend has been launched in VK Clips — users can tell you what they call their Universe.
